The height of a cylindrical drum is 21 metre and its diameter of the base is 2\3rd of its height. What expenditure will incur on covering the drum with lid by metallic sheet if the cost of sheet is Rs. 1250 per square metre ?

Radius of the base of drum
= 1\2 (21×2\3)
= 7 metre
∴ Total surface area of the drum
= 2 πrh + 2 πr^2
= 2 πr(h + r)
= 2 × 22\7 × 7 (21 – 7)
= 2 × 22 × 28
= 1232 square metre
Total expenditure on metallic sheet
= Rs. (1250 × 1232)
= Rs. 1540000
