Alexa is a voice-activated personal assistant that can do almost everything. However, its capabilities are not limited to just one thing – it can speak in multiple languages and accents too!

To change the language or accent that Alexa uses while speaking, you simply have to access your Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet device.

The language settings of Alexa can be changed for different reasons. For example, if you want to give access to your friend who doesn’t understand English (the default language), you can change the settings of Alexa’s voice commands in order to teach her another language.

Or, if you are learning a new language yourself, then you can change the settings of Alexa’s voice commands in order to practice your new language.

For U.S. customers, you can talk to Alexa in English or Spanish. However, other languages are supported partially as there will be some hiccups while using them with Alexa.

The list of supported languages includes German, Canadian English, UK English, French, Italian Portuguese, and Chinese but they are not fully compatible with Alexa.

How to change Alexa’s accent or language?

In order to change the language of your Alexa-enabled device,

      1. Open up your smartphone’s “Alexa” app and head over to the Settings section.
      2. Once there, select the Device Settings option from a list of options provided on screen.
      3. You will see a list of all Alexa-enabled devices that you own or have access to.
      4. Select the device you want to change the language of and press on it.
      5. There will be a language option displayed there, so tap on it and select your preferred accent or language from a collection of options provided for you.
      6. After making your selection, return back to the previous screen by tapping OK.

That’s it! This is how we can easily change Alexa’s language & accent settings as per our convenience.
